Meet Sara

Sara was the first pup to arrive from India to the United States in 2019 for Delhi the Street Dog Foundation. Our amazing vet in India, Premlata Choudhary, reached out to us as she recently just helped to rescue a litter of puppies that were living on the street.  Unfortunately, the sad reality is that very few puppies in India make it to their first birthday. They are hit by cars, beaten by people or are attacked by older dogs.

We knew that Sara would make a great addition to a family in the United States. The rest of Sara’s litter had already found their forever homes but Sara still needed to find her forever family. We contacted our partner organization in New York City, Animal Haven, and asked if they would be willing to help find Sara a home. Of course they couldn’t say no to those puppy eyes.

Luckily, since Sara was still so small, that meant that she got to fly in cabin with her flight volunteer. Sara arrived to New York City on December 8th 2019 and was picked up by an Animal Haven volunteer.

Our predictions were right as Sara was adopted immediately. A family who already had one rescue dog that they had adopted from Animal Haven adopted her. Now Sara has a loving family and a fur sibling.
