WHAT IS DELHI THE STREET DOG FOUNDATION?

Delhi the Street Dog Foundation provides safe passage and forever homes for Indian Street Dogs. By raising funds and by partnering with animal rescue organizations, Delhi the Street Dog Foundation covers transportation costs for Indian Street Dogs to the United States where they can receive appropriate and safe care – and build an inseparable bond with their new family and community.

WHERE IS DELHI THE STREET DOG FOUNDATION LOCATED?

While we have no physical address, we work with rescues in both India and the United States. All of the animals we transport are cared for by one of our partner organizations.

WHERE DO YOU RESCUE DOGS?

We have partnered with multiple rescue organizations in India who are at capacity and have low adoption rates. We have also partnered with no-kill rescues in the United States who will help the dogs find their forever homes. Please see out partners page for more information about our partners.

HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?

First, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your interest. We are growing a great community of volunteers and we need as much help as we can get! Volunteer work ranges from a donation to the foundation, helping with fundraising, all the way to being a part of a dogs “Freedom Ride” to the United States. HOW DO I ADOPT DOGS?

Once a dog arrives in the United States, it will be placed in one of our partner shelters (no-kill) across the nation as they search for their forever home. If you are interested in adopting a dog, you will need to reach out to that specific shelter.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RESCUE A DOG?

Costs may fluctuate due to circumstances such as travel supplies, vaccinations, health certificates, export papers and airline fees. As you can imagine, the largest cost is the flight from India. We estimate, on average, that it will cost roughly $1500 per dog to cover a dog’s “Freedom Ride”. We hope as the foundation grows, that we can reduce this cost. The adoption fee is $300.

DO YOU RESCUE IN OTHER PLACES BESIDES INDIA?

At this time, our mission is limited to rescuing dogs from India due to the extreme number of stray dogs in India.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR NON PROFIT STATUS?

Delhi the Street Dog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit corporation. Your donation is tax deductible. All donations will be used to further our tax exempt purpose.
