Meet Pippa

On August 3, 2018, one-month old Pippa was found wandering the streets of New Delhi. She had been separated from her mother and had been left in the neighborhood, where street dogs and monkeys could have hurt her badly or killed her. Her rescuer brought her home and after a couple of days moved her to a foster home where she could get the all-day care she needed. She stayed at two foster homes before she was brought back home by her rescuer Shreya.

For months Shreya searched for an adopter in India, but not only are Indian street dogs undesirable in their homeland, but black females are usually the types of dogs who have the hardest time finding a home. This is when Delhi the Street Dog Foundation decided to step in! We quickly edited a video and spread her story, accruing almost half the amount that she needed to fly abroad. A private donor graciously picked up the remaining costs, and on February 14, Valentine’s Day which is incredibly apropos, Pippa landed in Vancouver where she was then driven to Seattle.

Quick to learn, and willing to do anything for a treat, Pippa knows the commands Sit, Up (to stand up on hind legs), Down, Come Here (where she comes up to you and boops your palm with her snout) and we have also recently learned that she talks (moans, whimpers and squeaks) in her sleep!

Pippa is now up for adoption to the perfect home and will be waiting patiently at Sunny Skies Animal Rescue in Puyallup, Washington. So far she has proven to get along with other dogs, as Pippa spent the first portion of her life living with senior foster brother, Plato. Plato is currently missing Pippa, but we also hear that he is enjoying his newfound quiet and solitude!
