Meet Inky

Our Founder had just left for vacation and was hoping to have a relaxing couple of days away from the stress of rescuing dogs. As one can imagine rescuing dogs from India has a huge impact on our emotional state even though we all try our best to not become too attached to the dogs we are helping. That morning we received a message on Facebook about puppies living in a gutter across the street from the Hilton in Saket, Delhi. We were told one of the puppies was very ill, as it was non-stop shaking. Unfortunately, the person who reached out to us on Facebook was just a tourist visiting India and didn’t know what to do for the litter of puppies.

The Foundation quickly put out a plea on Facebook asking for someone to go check on the puppies and bring them food and water. As soon as it was posted, we got many responses and found someone to go check on the litter of the puppies. The person who checked on the puppies was very worried about the medical condition of the shaky puppy. Learning this information we could not stand by and watch this litter of puppies suffer, especially the shaky pup. This meant we needed to take immediate action and had out vet in India retrieve the puppies. Sadly, by the time they arrived three of the puppies had died. We are still so fortunate that we had the opportunity to save the other four puppies in the litter.

Inky arrived to the clinic with his three siblings. Since Inky was healthy, he was immediately moved to a foster family with his sister, Ms. Pinky. Unfortunately, we had to have them in a paid foster home as all of our volunteer fosters had their hands full.

Inky, was the last of the gutter puppies to arrive to the United States. He arrived to Vancouver on February 21st 2019 and was picked up by our Founder along with Hazel and Angel. He is now waiting at Sunny Skies Animal Rescue for his forever family.
