Meet Angel

A scared and sweet dog was dumped in front of an animal shelter in Gurgaon. They left her tied up to a fence with no water or food. Luckily, the next morning she was rescued by some very kind people who immediately took her to the vet to ensure that she was healthy. Some very big news was revealed at the vet as she was pregnant and was due any day. They decided to name their new rescue dog Snowy.

A couple days after Snowy was rescued she gave birth to six puppies. Unfortunately, one of the puppies did not survive. Luckily, Snowy was safe now and could focus on taking care of her new puppies. She was still learning to trust people and was still very nervous around her new caretakers. It took time and patients but finally Snowy realized that she would not be harmed.

Snowy’s puppies got bigger and stronger and now it was time for them to find families. Their rescuers posted all over social media to look for loving homes for Snowy and her puppies in India. But, unfortunately no one wanted to adopt them. Sadly, in India there is a negative stigma towards owning a street dog. This means that adoption rates are extremely low in India.

We were notified that a mother and her puppies would be released back to the streets because they were healthy and no one wanted to adopt them. The moment we heard about this situation we knew we needed to help. We created a campaign to raise the money to cover the cost of the flights for Snowy and her five puppies. We decided to call them the Hopeful Six. In just three days we raised the money needed to transport them to the USA.

Angel was the first of the Hopeful Six to arrive to the USA. She arrived on February 21st 2019. The rest of the Hopeful Six will be arriving on March 16th 2019.

Angel, now Lilo, has a loving family who loves taking her camping.
